At the end of 2022 we added a Takamaz J-Wave to our secondary department. It is a full CNC controlled lathe with a loaded to pickup blanks and load them into the chuck for machining, while unloading a completed part. The machine has a 4" chucking capacity and gang plate with the ability to load 4-5 tools, at a maximum RPM of 4500. The machine has a small footprint so it's ideal for creating a machining cell.
This machine was purchased specifically for one job in which we are machining a blank on our Acme's and finish drilling the IDs on the Takamaz. The blank parts are loaded into a large bowl feeder which vibrates parts around the bowl to the proper orientation until they are loaded onto a conveyor. The conveyor moves the parts into position for the loader to grip a new part and load it into the machine, while unloading a just completed part. The gantry loader then moves back to the conveyor and drops the completed part down a chute while then picking up a new part for the next cycle.
